Hi

I bought a Xone 32 last week and recived it on Friday and it's not good Sad

Faults galore:

Lots of static on the master volume (up to -5 on the level meter when turning up and down with nowt plugged in!).
Buzzing in the left can on the fones.
Distorted sound from the record out.
Its smells like a scalextrics (that funny burning smell)

I was playing a live set on the web and had distortion complaints, so I plugged my 7 year old DJM300 back in and it was all good again!

These faults come and go but what really annoyed me was the booth output, I assumed that this wouldn't have a Mic output as its for the Dj ,am I wrong?.

As a result I still have to use my old Pioneer DJM 300 after the xone to get a monitor with no Mc, So does this mean the sound quality will only be as good as the DJM300??

You can't shift the input levels over to the larger indicator either you just have to rely on a 4 led bar (not good for sound blending).

I'm so annoyed as I though Allen and Heath mixers were the bomb.

I'm sending it back tomorrow for a replacement or should I ask for a differant mixer?

I was going to get a Vestax PMC 280 but it doen't have the same ring to it as a Allen & Heath.

Thats bad news. Was never too keen on Allen & Heath. Always liked Pioneer mixers. Going to buy the DJM600 this week. Will let you know if its worth it or not. Have you looked into Pioneer?? Korg also have some very nice mixers out too Spot on

Got this E-mail back from A&H today:

Hello Benjamin.

Thankyou for the enquiry about your Xone:32.

The Xone:32 hasn't got a cleanfeed circuit, so the main LR buss / main
mix is present from the record and booth output. The Xone:62 and Xone:92
addressed this problem by being configurable, so that the mic signal
could be switched off in the booth output by either unplugging a harness
inside or changing a jumper link.

Can I please confirm: When you turn the master volume pot, with all
faders fully down, can you see the meters jump to -5? This is out of the
ordinary- has it had a spillage or been damaged in any way?

Have you spoken to Decks about the noisy pot?

Kind regards,

Tom Oakes

Technical Support Engineer
Allen & Heath Ltd.

So if you buy a £700 or £1000+ mixer you have to open it up to get the mic off the booth output!!! Genius!

And I like the way they try to blame me straight away, spill something on a spanking new mixer mmmmm.

The mixer goes back tommorow its a toss up (oo er missis) between the DJM 400 or the Korg KM 402??

It just gets worse!!!!!

I sent the mixer back to decks.co.uk they have sent it to Allen and Heath to get inspected, Allen & Heath told me I had spilt something on it , which I haven't.

But now they can say that is has been spilt on and not give me my money back then I have to prove it was faulty!!!!

NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!

£420 down the drain :'(

Dj-BBT,

if you know that the fault is down the mixer being geniuenly faulty. i would suggest you stand your ground! Insist on a replacement or your money back. If they refuse, then go speak to a solicitor for advice. Don't let A&H rob you.

yeh i agree. you obviously spent a fair bit of money on it so you shouldnt back down. maybe the shipping company cracked it when they sent it to A&H?
