Ah ok, 1 thing that works for me the best is: be patienced.. Don't want to make great songs after your 1 month of starting with making music - and it looks all very complicated in the beginning but once you get addicted you'll all learn the basics soon enough wink

For about 2-3 years. But the beginning is all crap.. after your first year you're starting to make something that also 'sounds' like a track Razz

Ye, but that's your personal opinion.. I'm just having fun making music and that's the thing that matters for me. I just want to make my music sounding better and better Razz And about coming up with something: i also don't know how I get my melodies, sometimes just on a day i get something in my head - then I try to make a song of it Very Happy

So you could probably if you had the time, come up with a few melodies a week then?
Ever had or do you plan to put your tracks onto vinyl?

I use Reason 3 and sync it with Pro Tools. Mainly for the audio vocal samples etc. I love Reason 3, it's really simple to use & great fun.

Hmm one thing that bothered me the most in Reason is that you can't load any VST(i) plugins.. but Pro Tools is a very good program for audio & vocal editing Smile

I'm using Cubase SX3.

You'd have to pay me to switch to something else.

For Midi: Nuendo & Reason

Nuendo supports VST, and interfaces perfectly with the UAD-1 DSP. I like the interface, and working with midi is easier than on PT.

Reason is great for programming beats.

For Audio: Protools |HD

Protools is fast and easy for working with audio.

Back in my every-day-write-a-new-breakbeat days, Orion proved to be perfect. That app has matured VERY well now.
