Well, I hear about 4/5 simultanious tracks (including 2 violins/cello at one point) which isn't possible with one instrument.
So he could be either miming it completely (doubt he'd get away with that) or he's playing an electric violin over a pre recorded piece of music which he may or may not have made himself.
As for changing the violin sound into an electric guitar sound, I haven't heard that before but you can see him changing the effect with a foot lever & I would say that it was certainly possible.
Sounds nice though, I liked it, did you?
