Hi everyone great site and forum full of interesting information, but i wondered if you guys could help me....

i think i will get cubase sx3 and the waves diamond bundle as i have read that these are quite exceptional pieces of software, BUT i am going to buy the hardware and finally make the move to record on a pc and shy away from my triton studio and roland mixer/workstation as my main hardware....

so my question is: what pc set up do you think I'll need to handle these pieces of software, seeing as they are both quite big memory eaters.
of course i'll be using quite a few of the waves plug ins at the same time and have many tracks playing so....any ideas what i need so i dont start slowing up?

what sound card. ram, processor, mother etc.....

thank you all for reading my question and any replies you may give!

I use:

AMD x2 4200
Asus A8N deluxe
2GB OZ Platinum RAM
E-MU 1820M soundcard

Have never had a problem running this software, but I produce garage tracks that tends to be quite minimalist. I guess if you ran XP 64 you would benefit from even more RAM as cubase SX is compatible.

On a well equiped computer, Ram shouldnt be too big of a problem (Think atleast 2 gigs), unless you're running a good number of long delays and reverbs.

The biggest problem is going to be CPU loads. The waves plugins are excelent, especially the Renassiance plugins that come with it, but they come at the cost processing load. So that's priority.

To give you an idea, we can run more than 500 of the Bomb Factory BF1176s without a hickup. Running the Waves stuff on an HD3 system with the Accel expansions, and I can top out the system if I get creative with the mix.
