Bassline House = Garage? Or is it different? Think

Speed Garage yea Spot on

Now I thought that the whole "speed garage" thing had died off years ago.

I wouldn't call it Speed Garage myself but theres where Bassline House came from, so I guess ya could call its SG Cool

Bassline House was started in 2002 By Big Ang & Jon Buccieri on Reflective Records ThumbsUp

Am currently (still) loving my old skool hardcore/breakbeat and jungle, but have been broadening my horizons to take in a bit of Breakz (the filthier the bassline, the better wink ) and am getting into liquid DnB and, not so much on a dance flavour, have been checking out again some of the old 80's new wave stuff- really enjoying New Order etc again at the mo...

And I got to agree with some of the previous posts- Scouse House is a big no no Naughty

Different strokes for different folks but to label a WHOLE scene as terrible, bit harsh. There are some VERY good producers/engineers from the Bassline House & Bassline (4x4) scenes, Neil Rumney being the best in Bassline House imo. He produces in many genres, Bassline House, House, Garage and even Hardcore, (NRG) his hardcore alias was I think. Theres a fella called Jman who used to engineer BH and now makes Funky House I think it is under 'Funkagenda' which im sure many house fans will have heard of?

In the Bassline (4x4) scene there is the Wideboys who have produced/remixed for many BIG names and labels including Rihanna, Liberty X, Snoop Dogg, Britney Spears and many many more.

Delinquent have remixed for Ciara, J Holiday, Taio Cruz, Natasha Bedingfield and more which I cant remember.

Agent X "have remixed the likes of Mis-Teeq, Ja Rule, Ashanti, Christina Milian & Romeo plus more."

DnD - The people who produced Daniel Beddingfield's 'Gotta Get Thru This' (One of DnD - Arthur Smith is one half of Funky/Electro producers Moto Blanco btw)

Even the hardcore producer DJ SY has made a few Bassline House tracks under the Four Four Flavas names.

So all these people I've listed must be good at what they do to be where they are now? wink

Check out the discography of some of the people who make the "terrible" tracks Laughing

I've gotta be honest I went the Eclectricty Festival Sunday with Annie Mac, Roni Size, Plump DJ's etc. and Roni Size was SAVAGE Very Happy. For someone who isn't into that thing I was rooted to the spot lol Very Happy

Of course I was off my face and even tho I've been loving breaks at the moment I did discover in the smaller room on the otherside of the pool they were playing Jackin' House Very Happy.

I fell in love with House music all over again the lads and the girls I was with panicked as to where I disappeared to for 5 hours and found me dancing in the corner of the Jackin' House room lol/

I disagree. Many of the worlds top djs and producers are still writing amazing electro tunes. I'm not talkin grimey, no-composition, mindless music, but good groovin catchy tunes.

I'm finding minimal hard to get IN to. If it's too bare and repetitive -- I just can't.

Yes there as some top DJ's and producers writing some amazing tunes but I'm sorry they are few and far between in my opinion because there are ALOT of DJ's and Producers writing absolute crap. You can spend a day on BP/DJD/TID hunting for tunes and maybe find 10/15 that are good while we find a good 50 or so are poorly produced.

The Grimey Electro is what is big here thanks to Twocker/Will Bailey/Calvertron/Micky Slim etc. because they are all big boys on the dirty electro scene and all local lads alot of the locals (like myself) have grown on the dirty electro.

i think its the fact that there are more independent labels now. people are releasing there own crap on their own crappier label which is polluting the "sane" music word lol

Generally I like to play Electro House which encompases its subgenres that go with the style.

Progressive Trance is pretty good to, but these days that itself borders on House. I got hold of a compilation recently which is called Trance House. That explains is pretty much progressive trance at a slow speed.

I think these days you need to go on a course to pretty much fully understand the genres. There are so many types which cross over and create a blurry gap.

I like vocal electro also. THe chunky dirty electro type of sound.

Just spotted ur point there. Yeah about minimal. Ive not been keen on this for a long time, but there are quite afew producers who we promote on our site (Aftershock Promotions) who mix and produce this style. Sometimes I like the production in some of the tracks, how they feel really textural and abstract, but a lof of it is just plain boring. It feels like music you can make in a few hours and get away with. The repetitiveness of this stuff does my head in though at times. I can however have it playing inthe background when I don't wanna listen to something too heavy. Not sure if I would wanna go out clubbing to minimal though.
