if you had the power in your computer to do it then i guess so. you just gotta hope it doesnt freeze. i no a guy that mixed with the Behringer VDJ thing they released and he had to take a 15min break because his lappie over heated _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. Heard this happen a lot, there's no way in hell i could rely on a pc to do a full mix...just surfing the net and this thing freezes sometimes or your anti virus decides to scan for no reason and the thing slows down...Not for me _________________ Back In Business! |

agreed i did use virtual dj when i started and had that problem. there was this cool thing where you can scratch using your webcam but after a while the pc just cracks and starts like annoying sound where it repeats the same lil cd skipping noise until you turn it off.. _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. would you still trust it to mix an hour set? _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. What of it? I dance Better then you. Your a punk! You bounce your head up and down, I move my feet around. I feel the rhythem; You feel the scream. The Difference between you and me:

Definetly not and especially with the heat of a club, how bad would that be to be found out as a pc dj...i'd hide my head in shame. _________________ Back In Business! |

Laptop DJ? Pssh. Its easy enough with cdj's. A friend of mine had a laptop crash during his set. Another friends laptop would start so he was almost 30 minutes late starting his set. Plus I have heard of other random DJs laptops freezing on them during sets. No thanks. I will stick to production work with a laptop and let the real gear dedicated to DJing be my sword.
Hmm, that last sentance made me seem like a dork. hahaha *rolls 2D10 for saving throw* _________________ www.myspace.com/dj_anthonypaul |

I've had some good results with VDJ. You do need a dedicated laptop though. and keep your music files on the internal HDD if you are using a USB midi controller if its a slow lappy. USB v1 forget it USB V1.1 you will deffo need to keep the USB bus free for your controllers. USB v2 should manage the data throughput from the external HDD and the controller(s). I have used VDJ on a low end core 2 duo laptop with 1GB of ram and an external HDD and a cheap Beringher controller and it worked endlessly. But the lappy was running windows XP bare, no Aanti-virus or anything. Was literally XP and VDJ.
I would deffo recommend a 5.1 sound card. so the right and left virtual decks can output on the front and rear ourputs of the card in stereo respectively. that way you can use your headphones and Cue/master faders all as normal for mixing.
With Windows vista VDJ distorts the music when 2 tracks are playing. I fixed this by running VDJ in XP (sp2) compatibility mode and turning off safe mode id VDJ options. Also turn off Windows Aero prior to loading VDJ on Vista.
BalistiK: that webcam scratch thing sucks imho
Hope that drivel helps
