Hi,
A mate let me try a bit of mixing on his system and i really enjoyed it. I now want to start myself but the main problem is i dunno which songs to start with. Can anyone give me some advice on good tunes to get? I want 20 or so that would be good to start learning with?
Thanks

| hi rich, good question. My advice is not the best , but this is what i did when i first started djing. Buy the tunes you like, lets say the top 5 records you like. then try and mix them together untill your fed up then go out and but more tunes. This is what i did & it really helped me learn to mix. |

I remember when I started I made the mistake of buying 2 or 3 house tracks, 2 or 3 drum and bass tracks, 2 or 3 trance tracks and some hiphop..
Big mistake.. Totally big mistake.. Ened up being a waste of money.
First, sit down and ask your self, what kind of music is that *I* want to play. Forget buying the top 10 tracks and trying to be a superstar because its a waste of time. Honestly stick with one style of music and run with it for sometime.
I started out with Trance, and slowly moved to Drum and Bass... These days it only drum and bass on 3 tables..
If you are unsure of what you want to play, but feel silly about going to a record store, then check out some online record stores that allow you to sample music. This would allow you to sit down and figure out what sounds you are looking for from the comfort of your own home..
I seem to really like
http://www.chemicalrecords.co.uk
and
http://www.releaserecords.com
They both allow you to sample tracks before you buy them.
Best of luck, hope this helps. |
