All I see around me is commercial music. Am I crazy, or do you think I have a valid point? I see all these mixes and I say to myself…..where are the little guys? Where are the people that are BETTER than the commercial music, but just not signed? Sure, everyone loves BT, Paul Oakenfold (SP??), DJ Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Darude, ATB, Robert Miles, Iio and SOOOOOOOO many more, but how did they get their start/ They weren’t always big, well known names and I think it’s high time we got back to some roots.
I ONLY MIX all unsigned artists that display incredible MIND BLOWING talent. I want to help promote the little guys. The people that have a dream, a talent and some kick ass music! Many of them aren’t in it to get signed; they’re not in it for the money of the glory. They just want to make quality trance/dance/house music and they want people to enjoy listening to it. Is that so much to ask?
So I implore you to search for commercial music alternatives. There are many places one can find incredible unsigned artists. My main source is Acid Planet and since AP hosts remix contests, you can even find some of your favorites there, remixed and available for FREE. So what are you going to be listening to next week? Are you going to be padding the pocket of some over paid star that doesn’t give a shit about the music anymore, only about the money? Or do you want to be listening to a new artist that ONLY cares about the music and their audience?

The signed artists are great and I'm very happy for them in their success; don't get me wrong. I just think it's important to help support the little guys that really rock, that's all.
As for a noob in his bedroom studio.....I don't believe you've listened to any of the music that I mix. You should drop by the live set tonight and have a listen. It's some really amazing music! _________________ DJ Digital Gem (formerly DJGemini69) |

| you are so right all i ever here in my home city is over played MoS style crap i go clubbing when ever i can usualy 2 or 3 times a fortnight but i am starting to get tired of it. none of the clubs in my town are progressive in any respect unless it is a rare ocasion and a dj from melboure or sydney (i dont know if any of you know australia but sydney and melbourne are the bigger cities and cultural hubs) comes to guest dj i hear the same music i heard the last time i was in the club. sometimes it feels like the djs are more like jukeboxes spewing out what ever is most popular at the time |

back in the day Paul Oakenfold was working his butt off doing the rounds for £15 per hour, long hours and long drives to different venues paid off in the end,
i too love to hear underground stuff that just makes your toes curl up with joy, the radio stuff nowdays is so ice cream styled, everyones heard it!
i remember back in the day going to a messy club in kings cross called bagleys, and i mean it was messy, dark rooms with sawdust of the floor and a few lazers and a f off sound system and tunes you have never heard of before that made you jump up and down till your brain cells was mashed up together,
BTW, whats this all about? Paul Oakenfold (SP??), |
