Hi

I recently became the owner of 2 Technics 1210 Turntables.

I bought them used off a Friend who Started mixing a year ago, Gave up due to Family/Kids etc.. and left them in the boxes in the cupboard for a long time!

Been told there not even broken in yet..and couldn't have had more than 10hours play time.

However as i have started to use them.. Most the time they work great, but one of the tables occasionally when moved from the Neutral Pitch Position in any direction, you see the big dots on the platter frantically fluctuating... Which totally does my head in when trying to beat match as you can imagine.

And i also get the impression the pitch is a little out, and may require calibration.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

I know that there is an adjustment screw that can be accessed by removing the platter and the plastic shell beneath it. Not sure if it would help with fluctuations though. Try running a Google search, as I know that there are many sites and forums for people who like to tweak 1200's.

Yeh i did try Googling it, but couldn't really find anything specific to my problem.
Just wondering what may of caused it. Technics tables are meant to last a lifetime, true?

Maybe a Service is required? I've Never owned Vinyl tables, so im new to this.. im pretty sure I've ruined my needles already by accidentally knocking them too far and letting them scrape over the platter dots Embarassed

Surely when your paying over £300 per turntable, they cant implement some sort of safety feature to accommodate for our incompetency to maintainance Laughing

I'm guilty of both. :ninja:

@Fire...Did you already ensure that you have the deck set for the correct voltage?

Ive not checked to be honest... I'm presuming it should be at the standard 230v that we have in the UK, because they were used for 10hours before i got them. I'm just wondering, is it because of the fact they were left untouched for such a long time, they should just need a good thrashing to get back into working order?

I spoke to a friend who has experience with this. He said that an authorised repair center could fix the problem. He also said that it should be a fairly inexpensive procedure as well.
