Taken from one of Google's definitions:
Cyclic Redundancy Check is a method for detecting errors in data transfers. A special polynomial algorithm produces and uses a coefficient and a remainder (16 or 32 bits long) to check if the transmission proceeded without problems. CRC values change even if only one bit in the file changed--which makes it extremely reliable for checking integrity of files transmitted between computers.
Basically, it's an additional error detection method. CRC mismatches won't generate a "There were errors" message in the log, so it is important to manually look through the .log file to make sure they match. Hope this helps.
Someone more informed than myself will hopefully explain the attention to CRCs more clearly. |

If you are installing from a CD and you get that CRC error, then the CD is bad or scratched.
If your installing from hard files and you get that same CRC error. It maybe a corrupt file that SF 8 has or look out your hard drive may be going bad.
Back your data up QUICK
Do a checkdisk or scandisk which is error checking.
R-Click the drive letter, Tools. then error checking. Fix All and Attempt to recover bad sectors.
Depending on the amount of bad sectors and if the sectors can not be recovered.
New Hard drive is a must.
