| Some of you need to write a book or put out DVDs because of the info you have. |

Haha I was a scratch Dj for years, I learned it before mixing, so it comes easy to me, but just watching guys like DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist showed me how to really rock a scratch. It can be a very old school scratch, just a "wigga wigga wah" but if it's on time it sounds clean.
Small tips:
-Turn down/kill the bass on the track you are scratching, unless it is a drum piece.
-Don't just follow a video, set up the way you want. Some people reverse the fader (called "Hamster"), some do it regular, some use the upfaders too. Just do what is comfy for your style.
-For the most part, it is all in the wrist, not the fingers. Stay loose in the wrist, I like to stretch a bit first, if you tense up it sounds forced.
AND JUST KEEP PRACTICING!!! |
