| Nice work Reefy, all the elements are there. What did you add to the bassline in (Dagger Down) track to sound as it does? I have been trying to get that bassline sound for ages. |

Hi Slipmat and thanks for the positive comments!!! The bass is all live on this track- played by my own fat little fingers. Once we got the b-line into audio (some 30 takes or so to get it perfect) we slapped some (minimal) distortion to the slap bits and a touch of filtering and phasing here and there on the fingered parts... You can get a whole host of different sounds from the bass guitar without using effects, ie playing at the fretboard end will deliver a smooth and warm tone and playing towards the back of the bass will deliver distinguishable funky sounding tones. If you vary your positions, you can get a filtered effect and you get away with using "processed" autofilters...
I'm a bass player by trade, so if you want any bass lines doing, let me know. I'll need to know what key and time signature the music is in, the feel and tempo that you want...
If you've got any particular tracks that you feel could benefit from live bass just email me the links or even the MP3 file and I'll send you the WAVs. I have my own FTP site if that's of any use.
PS... that's a very nice funky mix in your signature... _________________ Mmmm... |

I can pretty much adapt to any style of music after being given a few pointers, I usually just play what fits musically though. If you want anything specific, it might be an idea to give me an example of the sort of thing you want... ie like the b-line in... (what ever toon you want it to sound like). _________________ Mmmm... |
