Here's my problem
I recently got hold of a copy of pro tools 7 and found out as i attempted to run the program that it needs hardware to function
Now can anybody point me in the right direction to a purely software based mp3 mixing program. I've notice in one of the threads on here mentioning some free software named ots labs which i've downloaded but found that the playback makes my pc speakers crackle and the mixing capabilities are not realy upto scratch.
So to summerise
Basically what i'm asking is, is there any software available on the net that will mix mp3's to the standard that pro tools will. I'm not bothered if it's free or i have to pay for it.
thanks in advance |

ok so i've found this thing call alberton but how on earth do you work the thing? From the looks of it you can't work it unless you have a degree in /maths/physics/chemistry lol
Any suggestons on anything simpler, that actually mixes well |

Pretty much any software geared for mixing will work, especially at the level you're at right now. I would highly suggest looking for software that supports VST. They are many very good plugins available in VST that are free.... some of which I *still* wish I had access to on Protools HD.
Protools is not the end all be-all audio app. The big things about Protools is that:
1 - It's fast. The interface is kept minimal.
2 - It's scalable. Not only can HD open LE PT files, LE can open HD.
3. HD version has special hardware that is used to run plugins off of your computer
4. It's used by most studios. If you write a beat at home on PT LE, nearly modern pro studio in the world can work off your original session without a problem.
6. Extremely flexible plugin handling.
7. It automatically takes care of a lot of stuff for you, or has cool nifty little features integrated into it.
But - The quality of the mix still comes down to the engineer. In fact, a lot of engineers are not favorable to the sound of Protools (Which is probably due more with Digidesigns clocks and AD/DA conversion than the actual software), and would rather use something like Nuendo.
So to sum it up, check out Orion. It's cheap (not free), the interface looks like a console, it's fast, and it handles plugins very well.
FYI: It looks to me that you were trying at activate a non-legit copy of PT. _________________ -K@LR |
