And lets be honest, how cool does it look when you take people up to the room with the decks and all the records in...doubt it looks as good with all cd's _________________ Back In Business! |

The DJ playing along side a live band is a concept that works well.
I seem to remember Okenfold DJing with U2 many years ago..... _________________ It's just the way I am...... |

Yea! lol just not the same if you carry a cd wallet into a club instead of a proper DJ bag/box! I would probably laugh at that |

recently i believe Tiesto preformed alongside the Blue Man Group
also (this is just speculation since i am not well versed in the art of DJing, but am so with technology/computers)
i think i would be possible if you have a good enough sampling rate in the mp3, if you were to record a piece of music from vinyl onto an mp3/wav/etc... or to a CD you would receive the same sound and quality that vinyl produce.
it should be possible to get the same sound out of a CD,if nothing else you record the song from a vinyl and release the mp3 that way, instead of the commercial version. this should give it the sound/feel of vinyl if the sound ranges are not limited to just those that you can hear but are extended outside of it a little ways (just because you may not be able to hear it does not mean you can't be affected by it) but i guess also every vinyl would sound just slightly different, different imperfections in different spots to give it its unique and more robust sound.
but as i said this is just speculation, i do not really know much about vinyl and will probably buy CD decks when i get some equipment unless i can find someone who has both so i can mess around on them
if i remember to i may do some research on this when i get home. |

my opinion, is it's a personality issue...if you're a DJ that needs contstant change all the time...serano is for you...if you like to sit back and get into a groove and mix, mix, mix, i think cd's and vinyl is what we'll prob find you using as a medium at your club.
i really believe that the 'digital' world only came about because there were some dj's that were bored up there and wanted more action to feed to the audience. Nothing wrong with either medium just different metabolisms of dj's in the booth.
next thing to come out? an expensive laptop with a built-in hardware dj mixer and video mixer...that's my guess. |

ive been using vinyl now for a while and its siik fun! so much easier to cue your tunes. i still use cds but i think vinyls are the way to go. im only using cds for when i got parties that involve hip hop n all that stuff... just makes it easier with the music thats avaliable _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. | Ye.. I've had similar discussion with other Hip Hop heads. Time are changing.. & technology is the way of the future. Most of the time it's either adapt or get left behind. Although I'm sure the there will always be some old school heads that stick with vinyl as their 1st weapon of choice regardless of what everyone else is doing. |

| I was forced into using CDs as my Vinyl Collection got wrecked but these days i am mostly using Traktor Scratch and mp3, I wonder how long it will be before DJs ditch the CDs also |

i dont think that will be very long. your still gonna have your djs who spin the ol' 12" but most acts nowdays are using mp3. sasha for example is useing abelton. saw a video interview about it. he built his own controller n everything for it. so djs are going to look at him and think, "well its not too bad if sasha mixes with mp3" then the trend will start and vinyls shall slowly become something less _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. Yep, I totally agree, also James Jabiela is using software and MJ Cole uses Ableton Live.. things are moving so fast...personally i love using traktor scratch, and the amount of tunes you can fit on a laptop saves my tired old back haha _________________ http://www.markhill.dj

the way i see it... If I was a carpenter, would i still be using a handsaw and a chissell instead of an electric saw and router?? well maybe, but no one would employ me to do work on their house! If that means I'm not a real DJ so be it but i'm doing ok, maybe we need a new name lol _________________ http://www.markhill.dj

thats a valid point you have there. having said that, a cuboard made with hand tools will always be better then a cuboard made with power tools. simply because there is more heart and care into the project. same with vinyl, you have more feel then to digital stuff _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head.
