A complaint i'm hearing a lot of now is with clubs having cd decks the punters are being subjected to already mixed up sets, now thats just lazy BUT funny when the disc skips...that is funny Laughing
There's nothing like making a set up and listening back on it and hearing all the records are in good or about 90% lol personaly i feel ive earned a great mix when ive worked hard with records and learnt aswell.
For me i'll always be records...110% Cool

i have always used vinyl on the old techs..lol.. i remember thinking at first that cd mixing was just cheating..lol.. cuz you can push a few knobs/buttons and your pitch is spot on, most of it is done for you. only other thing you need to do is your levels, and where to bring your next tune in. i will always prefer the vinyl my self but i think cd mixing will take over totaly sooner or later.!! i will probably get a pair of pioneer"s if i do the switch over. there is one good thing about it though, for those dj"s that spend alot of money on the vinyl, it will be very very very much cheaper on the mp3"s that you can D/L from the online record shops..!!!!

Judge said things right, our dj culture is changing. What would Thomas Edison could say about that since the invention of the grammophone. Its been 100 years since the first DJ played a record on the first radio broadcast and our times are definetly changing. But remember one thing music is still music in any format, but i feel nostalgic about vinyl too cause in 1988 when i bought my first record it was a magic moment for me.

the thing what people forget is you are djing away on your cd dex the crowd are aving it then the cd player starts to skip and jump or dies because of crap in there or the laser is out of alignment and you cant fix the damn thing i have seen this happen its not good, technics or what ever turntables are fixable in seconds usally just a needle is fuct, just replace and go then you can carry on as if nothing has happened, a cd player is just not as robust as a technics turntable especially when resonance start to make the internal workings in a cd player go out of alignment sooner or later it will happen or if you do free party's where they get transported about a lot then get packed up by people who are messed up and tired and gone past basic thinking process about being careful shit can happen "Ooops err sorry mate"
also djs should not be allowed to play mp3 format in clubs because sound flat and dull on a large p.a. rig, at least use a wav file or if using a laptop use a wav that is as large as your soundcard can handle Spot on

i love the smell of vinyl in the morning!

vinyl rocks, but technology from the folks at pioneer is getting so realistic that it's tempting to use both when appropriate. still seems though that vinyl bangs harder and cleaner.

Keep vinyl for sure but vinyl takes up so much space. I had about 2,200 vinyls transfered onto a hard drive. I now have space to move in my house, before i could not move for 12 in vinyls.

A dj is someone who play's somebody else's music and manages to get people excited about it. as long as the essence of getting people to go crazy for what your playing is still there, i dont see that whether the fact that the music is coming from a sheet of plastic or a digital file is an issue AS LONG as the dj can play with the same energy and passion as they can on a different format...

I'm a firm believer in vinyl. I love how it can be manipulated. And even more so, I enjoy the quality and sound of vinyl. It's my favorite way to listen to music. I have no experience with MP3 or CD tables at all so I don't have an opinion on them. If I can ever get back to work, maybe I'll invest at some point.

And lets be honest, how cool does it look when you take people up to the room with the decks and all the records in...doubt it looks as good with all cd's Confused

The DJ playing along side a live band is a concept that works well.

I seem to remember Okenfold DJing with U2 many years ago.....

Yea! lol just not the same if you carry a cd wallet into a club instead of a proper DJ bag/box! I would probably laugh at that Very Happy

recently i believe Tiesto preformed alongside the Blue Man Group

also (this is just speculation since i am not well versed in the art of DJing, but am so with technology/computers)

i think i would be possible if you have a good enough sampling rate in the mp3, if you were to record a piece of music from vinyl onto an mp3/wav/etc... or to a CD you would receive the same sound and quality that vinyl produce.

it should be possible to get the same sound out of a CD,if nothing else you record the song from a vinyl and release the mp3 that way, instead of the commercial version. this should give it the sound/feel of vinyl if the sound ranges are not limited to just those that you can hear but are extended outside of it a little ways (just because you may not be able to hear it does not mean you can't be affected by it) but i guess also every vinyl would sound just slightly different, different imperfections in different spots to give it its unique and more robust sound.

but as i said this is just speculation, i do not really know much about vinyl and will probably buy CD decks when i get some equipment unless i can find someone who has both so i can mess around on them

if i remember to i may do some research on this when i get home.
