Smoove to join Rampage at Notting Hill Carnival 2004

Notting Hill Carnival 2004 celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year and two of the UK’s most popular urban brands are uniting to throw a party.

Smoove, Ministry of Sound makes its debut appearance at Notting Hill Carnival 2004 to co-host the SMOOVE RAMPAGE SOUND SYSTEM on Sunday 29th and Monday 30th August 2004 with RAMPAGE, MASTERSTEPZ & SEMTEX and exclusive live performances.

For ten years Rampage has hosted its Sound System and anyone who has been to the Carnival or is a fan of R&B, Hip Hop and Bashment will know that the RAMPAGE SOUND SYSTEM is now as synonymous with the event as rice and peas and is THE place to be. It has the only static sound system with its own dedicated road and is by far the largest site. Throughout the two days it sees 100,000 people pass through and a full capacity party holds up to 10, 000 revellers, so you can imagine the vibe. Especially with previous artists including Sean Paul, Budju Banton, Ms Dynamite, K2 Family, Mos Def, Dizzy Rascal, Mark Ronson, Richie Dan and Dem Lott Family.

Well, you haven’t seen anything yet because with SMOOVE, the UK’s preferred urban club night, joining in the proceedings this year, the sound system is going to blow the roof off of the West London parade.

‘We’re very excited about being at Notting Hill Carnival. This year we have launched Smoove to the world and it now has residencies in many major cities including Bristol, Milton Keynes, San Antonio, Malia and Sydney. Notting Hill Carnival was the obvious next step, it is a fantastic opportunity for the brand to meet more of its market and it also allows us to present Smoove on a new platform. Our association with Rampage is fantastic, with our meeting of minds we plan to throw the biggest, most off the hook party that Carnival has ever seen. Friday all the way through to Monday, it’s gonna be huge!’

This year, Smoove and Rampage not only dedicate an entire road to their fans but also an entire Bank Holiday weekend as they host their own OFFICIAL CARNIVAL LAUNCH PARTY on FRIDAY 27TH AUGUST at Ministry of Sound with DJ’s to include RAMPAGE, MASTERSTEPZ & HEARTLESS and then move south to west to entertain carnival revelers all day on SUNDAY 29TH & MONDAY 30TH AUGUST.

Expect the finest Hip Hop, R&B & Bashment played on two of the capital's biggest sound systems, exclusive live artists & performances, merchandise & prizes galore, an electrifying atmosphere, very little sleep and the most memorable Carnival weekend ever.

OI OI! Big shout to everybody who took part in what turned out to be the best Sancho Panza event @ the 2004 Notting Hill carnival that I have attended. The Sancho Panza Sound system was absolutly phumping, and the tunes, oh my gosh - Deep, soulful breaks, with a ragga influence....pure ear candy!!!

below is a pic of the early stages of the event:

For those that know me, if you look close enough you will be able to pick me out!! Very Happy
