I`ve been discussing with other DJ`s and i told them that I cue my both tones in the headphones. They sad to me that this is not a good idea.
What is your opinion? witch is better: Monitor the current track and cue the one that is coming or it`s ok to cue both tracks _________________ They Say Curiosity Killed The Cat |

I think you mean have the main record playing in the headphones but also line up the next track in the same headphone. I do that myself sometimes and find it works very good, also spoke to a few dj mates and they use that way sometimes too. _________________ NorthStone |

Exactly!!!
But doing that I have one problem. I cant realize witch one is slower and witch one is faster. Any tips for that ?? _________________ They Say Curiosity Killed The Cat |

You could try listening to the track that's playing in the main monitors whilst also listing to both tunes in you in your headphones at a level your comfortable at..
Once you have both tunes in time, try switching your headphone cue to just the track your taking out. That way you'll be able to hear the track that's your bringing in crystal clear in the monitors, then you can make adjustments as and when. This method works well for me. Also helps when your chopping in and out & using eq's, mainly because your focusing on what the crowd can hear and not what's being heard in the headphones. _________________ .

Easy! Have the one your lineing up the loudest and the one already playing just up in volume a little
Say this is your volume range in your headphones....
I-------------I--------------I
Have your main sound in your headphone around here...
I...I*I.........I.................I
Making your line-up sound the loudest
Hopefully that makes sense lol _________________ NorthStone |

lol best i could do. Makes sense though and i notice a lot of people mixing like this, like someone said to me the other night *Its like having surround sound in your headphones*. Dont get me wrong though there's times i need just the one sound as having both doesnt always work for some reason _________________ NorthStone |

The idea is that you use the headphones to separate the monitor mix from the current mix. Sometimes it can be helpful to blend in a small amount of the current track in the headphones if your mixer allows you to. The only time ive heard of what you said is when you mix via "split cue". This allows you to mix with headphones on both ears, but plays one deck in one ear and the other in the other. Using this method, you can mix without speakers, but i never use this and don't like the idea of doing so. _________________

Yeah I have just one earphone on and alter the volume and mix of the track i'm cueing up as im getting it ready - sometimes just the track i'm cueing and sometimes both tracks.
If you're struggling Laddu, the best bet might be to use the split cue like Hush says and have the left deck in your left ear and the right deck in your right ear _________________ Love house till I die |

Hmm, you sure? i thought there was a switch above the cue/mix fader where the phones plug in... Might be wrong though, only used one a few times and I don't have it split... _________________ Love house till I die |

This is something you are not going to get overnight. The BEST tip anyone can give you is to practice and train your ears. This could take anywhere from many months to years, depending on how often you practice. You might be doing a mix and it sounds perfect to you, but to a vertran DJ/prodcuer your mix is way off.
As for playing both tracks in the headphones at the same time, this is fine for the most part. If it helps you more than not, then do it. There is no right way to mix 2 tracks together as long as they are dropped on measure and the mix sounds good. How you do it is completely up to you.

I am pretty sure there is an option for this. _________________ www.myspace.com/dj_anthonypaul |
