Hey there ,
Id really appreciate some help, im pulling my hair out that my lack of computer knowledge is getting in the way of me making music ,
ill get straight too it, ive djed for a few years and now i want to start producing my own stuff. im gonna tell you the equipment that i have and then show you how its set up and ask if this is right ? because i get a sorta delay in ableton when trying to record (latency) ? and a popping noise occassionally too, sometimes just when im using ableton alone , but alot of the time when i have itunes up too.
Ok so here goes.
I've an M-Audio Oxygen 49 Midi Keyboard.
An Audiophile 2496 sound card ( that i believe ive installed correctly)
And a computer with these specs.
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E4500
1024MB DDR2
320 GB 3G HARD DRIVE
NVIDIA GEFORCE 8400GS 3D
Super multidrive with lightscribe technology.
thats what it says on the side of my computer now.
Now
I have Ableton 6 on my computer that Im trying to use to record.
See picture to below to see how my ''manage audio devices" page looks like.
See picture to below to see how my ableton preferences page looks like.
Hopefully thats all the information i need to give for you to tell me if ive got everything set up correctly. if i HAVE, then im still getting popping noises, latency when pressing keys onn the midi keyboard in ableton, AND when itunes and ableton are open at the same time , the sound suffers.
thank you ! please get back to me.

When you try to record, do you shut everything else down so ONLY Live is running?
If so, restart your computer and only open Live. Make sure all other programs are turned off. When you are recording, look in the top right corner and you will see a % bar fluctuating. The higher the number, the slower Live will run. See how high the number is going. When I usually get popping (clipping) noise its because that number goes above 50-60%, I even pushed it as far as 100% for a split second while I was messing with mutliple filters and effects on several samples at the same time. Of course Live was running slow as shit because of this.
So check that out. If it is a low %, then....YAR!!! I'm a pirate!!!! _________________ www.myspace.com/dj_anthonypaul |
