Im looking to buy some new speakers and a good amp very soon. The speakers need to be big and loud but with good sound quality for large partys and other events. Im not sure really how amps work, how do i know what amp will power what speakers?? and am i right in saying active monitors just plug straight into the mixer?? what would be best for me? looking to spend about £300ish for now

As you can tell im new this sort of stuff, i usually just use a stereo system lol dance

Cheers

i no its basic but make sure u dont get an amp that is capable of blowing your speakers Razz
have you looked into powered speakers? Mackie make awsome stuff but are probably a bit expensive. JBL too may be a tad over what your looking to spend.
as for amps, it doesnt realy matter what you get. as long as it doesnt make your speakers cry lol

Sorry ill narrow it down a little here...

so basically just need 2 large speakers passive or active for partys in pretty large rooms. £300 or a little more to spend which isnt much really but it will do for now until i can afford much much better quality ones. Something like this maybe?

and you get the cable with them or buy it seperate?

sorry ive made this confusing by the way lol Embarassed

those speakers are fine. an 800W amp wud do the job fine. a 1000W amp will do it also. if you getting a 2ch amp those numbers are fine. so basically again, the power is divided within the channels, so 1000 becomes 500 per channel n so on.. you probably already no that but just incase Spot on

no worries smitty Spot on

TL: your probably best getting powered monitors but if your after an speaker/amp set up, for a bedroom i reckon 500W amp would be fine Spot on then find some 200/250W speakers.
