Hello mate
Unfortunately I haven't been able to make it onto your website yet to give it a decent viewing as I only have very limited internet access but I'm going to assume that its looking good from previous comments.
I have been listening to and DJ-ing various types of dance music for years, mainly staying around the Trance/Hard Trance and Hard Dance areas with the odd bit of hardcore and Freeform thrown in.
I think the best way to explain different styles of music is by giving you examples. This is completely my own opinion though and other people might disagree as there isn't really an official divide.
Hard House to me has always been the kind of 'Hoovers and Horns' style followed relentlessly by people like The Tidy Boys, Lisa Lashes etc. This can range in different 'Hardnesses' with the Tidy Boys being quite soft and someone like Paul Glazby being on the harder end of the scene and Anne Savage floats between the two.
I'm not really going to comment on Trance because as I've said, I haven't been able to get onto your website yet to check it out and if thats what its mainly about, I'm guessing you already know enough.
Hard Trance to me is purely just a harder version of Trance, much harder beats but still with the melodies which is why I like it. I think one of the main differences is in Trance, the bass is a melody in itself and each bit of bass can be heard whenever but you'll notice that in Hard Trance, the bass is always a small stab in each offbeat. It will follow a melodic route but you can never usually hear it when the beat is sounding, in Trance you can.
Hard Dance has very similar sounding beats and percussion to Hard Trance but doesn't have as melodic a tune, if it has a tune at all.
Here are a few examples of some classics:
Hard Trance: Arome - Hands Up (DJ Scot Project Mix)
Gaz West - Playing With Fire (Dark by Design mix)
Hard Dance: Dark By Design - Severe Punishment
Avaline - Never Sever
Hard House: Tony De Vit - Are You Ready?
Lisa Lashes - Unbelievable
A good example of a song that is almost Hard Trance because of melodies but almost Hard House because of percussion is Heaven's Cry - Till Tears Do Us Part.
Hardcore and Freeform are completely different styles... but also quite similar.......... lol
I hope this helps

insted of youtube links, y not samples of tunes? like for example when your shopping online for music and it has mp3 samples of the product. most of them you have to dowload so upload them to a player or something… just a thort.
and for hard trance, make sure you put in Red Snapper (Vinylgroover & The Red Hed Remix) - C90 _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. What of it? I dance Better then you. Your a punk! Its gunna have to be samples because I cant get the YouTube Vids to appear anyways.
Would you mind telling me how i would go about getting samples on the site....im not to good on technical things like that! _________________ The Movers, The Shakers and the Sexy Music Makers |

lol that makes 2 of us lol your better then me just by knowing how to manage a website haha
well……… im guna guess, you'd go to a vinyl / mp3 online store somewhere like beatport or www.vinylwarning.com.au (only coz i no vinyl warning makes you download the sample) and then you would upload the file to some embeded player you will put on your website OR you just host em as download links… but the player would be better if you could _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. Mate its all about you, just make sure people can access the site when its all done. A lot of people including myself could learn a thing or two from yourself and the knowledge you have about Trance _________________ What Give's You The Impression I'm Your Blud? |

Nah, I wont let it go to my head...!
Yeah...I have done a hard trance mix (in the loosest context of Hard Trance) an Anthem House mix and im hoping to put together a house mix by the time my free trial runs out oh, and maybe a trance mix.
They only have a 3/4 songs just so you guys can comment on the mixing of the songs rather than the track selection.
Im thinking of getting myself some CDJ's for my Bday to try my hand at proper mixing though!!! _________________ The Movers, The Shakers and the Sexy Music Makers |
