I've been planning to reorganize/resort my MP3 collection. Before I start down this road of possibly renaming the files, changing the ID3 tags, etc. I'm wondering what everyone else has found to work best. I've seen the following done and am interested in what others do to put together a list of "best practices":
FILES/FOLDERS
Sort files by standard rip options - folder named after artist, then album folder, then song files
Sort files by "crate" designation - keep all individual files in genre or playset folders
Sort files by other method/grouping
SONGS
Name files by these formats:
songname-key-bpm
artist-songname-key-bpm
key-bpm-songname
key-bpm-artist-songname
Other variable not included here that is important?
ID3-TAGS
Write key info to comments
Write key info to description
Are there any options to create custom ID3 tags for key values?
PS - I'm using MIK to note the bpm & key values. If anyone has any pros/cons or other suggestions, please feel free to mention. |
