This 26-year old musician personifies the chilled-out, soul-driven vibe of the Naked Music concept.
"If I Fall" was the smooth, groove-infected track that first intertwined Miguel and Naked Music. The 1997 dub remix on OM Records was a surprise hit, slipping its way into numerous compilations and sliding into the record bags of deep house DJs across the globe.
Miguel has since found himself on the remixer A-list of dance music's top producers. Contrary to many of his club-o-centric DJ/producer peers, Miguel is unabashedly unconcerned with the potential dance floor appeal of his soulful, uplifting tracks. "It's music to listen to, not necessarily to rock the floor at its peak," explains the Santa Cruz, CA native, who grew up with a true love of reggae.
In the past year alone, Miguel has quietly put out more than 15 quality cuts on seminal labels like Naked Music, Yoshitoshi and Transport all of which have made waves in the underground circuit and hit DJ hype charts of international media. His professional career started at age 18 as songwriter and lead guitarist for Santa Cruz local dub band Zion Sounds, whose Jamaican and African rhythms earned them gigs with globally known reggae outfit Burning Spear.
Conveniently, Miguel was situated just a few hours away from North American club-love mecca San Francisco, in whose arms he discovered an intense musical passion that he could express alone in a studio: the feeling of house music.
As a producer, Miguel perceives a strong connection between his house production and reggae roots. Reflecting his live background, he writes his own lyrics and plays his own instruments, be it bass, guitar or keyboard.
From his very first experiments with wax (the white label experimental trip-hop "Excursion EP" and the "Mercury Lounge EP" on La Casa Records), Miguel knows he has effortlessly stumbled upon his rhythmic destiny. "Now that I found it, this is my life," he says. "Things just came together, all my energy is focused on production right now. This is what we're living."

Quality music from the man Miguel Migs. Didn't know what he looked like though! Nice one for that info Ryan.
I was cruising the Naked Music website and discovered Aya's (the voice of Blue Six's 'Sweeter Love') album has been released. Its all produced by Jay Denes (Blue Six) and with the amazing tallent of Aya you can only imagine the quality of the album. It only seemed to be floating about on CD so I'll keep you informed of a vinyl release!
