Well, I'm 15 min. into producing a 2 hour trance set for a rave my buddy is throwing at the end of July.. and I am starting to try to think of the best way to go about the rest of it.
so far, I'm basically working in 7 1/2 min tracks, and I just started the third section..
Now.. cpu usage is starting to become a problem, being that I do all of my work on a laptop with only 512MB of ram, and a crappy processor to top that off.
I've switched smart disable on the effects, and have been converting patterns into wav as I go.
The main question is.. how to go about mixing it all?
I'm currently thinking about making 6-8 distuinguishable segments, with the last 15-30 minutes entirely made up of mixing those tracks together. After that, going back and adding vocal samples and fx to tie things in and reduce any repetitive areas.. Then after all this is done, letting it sit for a bit before checking it all over again to make sure it flows well and doing any final editing to the mix.. and finally rendering and mastering the whole set.
I also don't have the slightest clue how I'm going to run everything.. but I guess I will figure that out as I go..
Any wisdom any of you can share? |

Havnt a clue about pc mixing but tracks wise get some Armin Van Buuren,Tiesto,Thrillseekers,Signum into that mix

hahaha.. that's not what I mean..
I'm PRODUCING a 2 hour set.. from scratch..
Although, I will check those out for filler inbetween live performances..
Speaking of which, what would be a good rig to go live with? |
