I want a top quality drum sample cd for my house music productions. Can anyone recommend any? I want to use something that a top producer such as junior jack, jay-j, masters at work etc would use. Do these sorts of guys usually use sample cds for drums?

If anyone can help that'd be great.

Jay

Hi Jason wink

I think alot of the the top house producers create many of their own samples from scratch..

try the below link for house sample CDs;

Cheers for the link.

In the case of those producers who make their own samples from scratch, how do they create the drums? they must use certain hardware or other sources to source the actual drum hit that forms the basis of the sound?

Obviously i understand that most top house producers will create synth, bass, key sounds themselves, but as far as drums i dont see how they could use anything other than samples or drum machines, unless they program drum sounds using synthesis. Am i right?

I really want to know the answer to this one! Can anyone shed any light?

Mate, all youve got to do is get your head around synthisis...

Im no expert, but lets start with a kick...

Get a sin, fastest attck, no sustain or release, decay to taste, put a negative pitch decay on it to get the thud, then layer up a click...

A toms similair just higher pithed....

Hats / cymbals, start with whit noise and a band or high pass, agin get yourenvlopes right...

Just experiment dude, instead of making tunes for the past year, ive just been messing about making drum / bass / lead sounds, now im (just) startin to make tracks and i feel much more confident...

The only samples i use are vocals, try it, **ck samples be completely original...

Hope this helps

the vengeance sound libraries are killer...

the production quality on them is over the top,
which has helped me, cuz I have to tinker with my music alot to get them in...

try them out...
they are smothered over a lot of dance releases...

they also make really good presets for vst's, and have some patches for free on KVR.

smiles.
