hi ther. i'm a lover of all dance music. everything from trance to hardcore to plain old commercial stuff.

I would love more than anything to be able to make my own music and was thinking of doing a part time college course in music technology/production. Is this the right thing to do or are there courses out there aimed more towards the dance scene?#

thanks a lot

Have a look at your local colleges... The BTEC National in Music Technology is a good course to start on as it covers most areas in production...

yes a B-tech would be good but they are a lot of work and require a huge amount of written word to support your actions. however it is true that they do cover everything from Programming to acoustics to live recording and music theory. If all you want to do is write dance music then maybe teach your self. there are hundreds of books magizines and websites with tutorials and once you get to a certain stage of learning then you will get better with practise practise talking to people oh and did i mention practise. I did a course in bristol at a place called Access to music and that was a lot more aimed around the musical taste of the learner where as the B-techs are stuck around a set curiculmn Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
