After the great popularity of last year's competition, and the unprecedented success of the winners, Kiss 100 has decided to launch a second Pirate Soundclash DJ talent search.
In 2003, the UK radio station gave pirate DJs the chance to go legal and secure their own legitimate high profile show on air. The victors, three 20 year olds from Hackney - Alphadecious, Jonah D and MC Chynaman - now have their own weeknight show on Kiss 100, are demo-ing for a daytime slot, and have bagged a Sony Radio Academy Award nomination for 'Best Specialist DJ'.
So, if you or your crew are currently delighting the airwaves while dodging the law, it may be time to show your full potential. To enter this year's Sounclash, fill in the entry form found at Kiss 100's website and get a demo together before September 17th 2004. The best four will have the chance to show off their skills on air during the week of the 4th Oct with the Soundclash show happening on the 8th Oct between 9pm and midnight. Listeners will text votes throughout the show as the losers get eliminated. The winners of the Soundclash will get their own three-month contract with Kiss.
Kiss was originally a pirate station broadcasting across London in the mid-eighties. Legal since 1990, many of Kiss 100's DJs past and present are ex-pirates and some have gone on to attain international status including Trevor Nelson, Tim Westwood, Dave Pearce and Judge Jules.
