'Merdeka' - An evening of music and performance raising funds and awareness for the oppressed people of West Papua who are suffering terribly at the hands of their Indonesian occupiers.
Friday 7th April @ Jamm, Brixton 9pm-4am
The event will be headlined by Jazzanova (DJ set) and Russ Jones of global beats collective Future World Funk.
There will also be exclusive live performances from West African drumming group Sabari, and renowned Brazilian samba funk outfit Sambura.
Also on the bill is the rising star of the UK folk scene, Kid Harpoon.
There will also be a very special live performance of ethnic West Papuan music from tribal group, The Lani Singers.
Fresh from touring the UK with Ricky Gervais, Timeout's 'outstanding achievement award winning comedian' Robin Ince will compere the evening.
Extras include human rights projections, visuals, capoeira performances, a host of DJs playing everything from afrobeat to ethnic latin sounds, and global munchies to keep your taste buds satisfied.
