Yep enjoyed this hush

interesting that you have used the Paul Van Dyke track. I was looking at his bio online and found out his productions are very much heavly influenced by tech house compositions / elements. I used to associate PVD with Trance but to learn he was into producing tech house was a suprising.

Cheers for listening, im actually listening to it myself now. Tech is something that I feel is up and coming into popularity since many tracks i get hold of these days are either tech or have tech/minimal tech remixes on them. The outwork track is an example of this, in which the original is much more on the funkier bassy side of house.

As for the PVD track, I haven't heard the original and just presumed that this was a particular tech remix of the original which I assumed would have been more trancey.

I still get a lot more electro material than tech, but as my tech collection is slowly increasing, I thought I had enough to start mixing it once a month or so hence The Tech Project was born.

Cheers Tiger. I'll continue to post em up here. I'm gonna try and keep up a tech mix along side my more funkier electro mixes, however im aiming at getting two of those ones a month because i get quite a few promos and stuff.

I used to dislike house actually, originally I got into happy hardcore when i was at school from about 97 or so until about 1999. In 98 I got into trance through DJ's such as Mark EG and M-Zone who were playing Acid House. Trance then came through properly in 98 world wide when Euphoria hit the market and was massive in my life as I started mixing it for the first time in 99 when a mate of mine got some decks. Hard House was ok but I got bored of it after a while because there wasn't a lot happening in it. I did like hard trance though which contained more melodic sounds and was pretty much what Acid house was.

House music I didn't really like and I went to uni and slowly got into it over time. In the last 4 years of so ive gotten very much more into house especially since electro has grown on me. I love how it has appeared in many styles of house from the more commercial stuff right through to filthy dirty electro house. Now just in the recent few months, I have taken Tech on board because im hearing it a lot more and I wanna try and jump into the market.

I do genuinely love house music though now. I feel like i truely understand the stuff i listen to now where as when I first tried to make it, I had this trance head on me and didn't full understand it like I do now. I once read an article in a music mag, and the guy was talking about the differences between when he produces house to when he does trance. He said that for house it needs to be more chunkier percussion. At the time I didnt even know what he was on aout, but now it's so obvious what he's talking about. Trance has now become a minority in my tastes compared to house and I much prefer 128 bpm to anything above 130. In he past it was the complete opposite. With House its the grooves you get and the texture of the tracks. I like how they have an organic feel to them and, as that producer said in the magazine, the percussion is usually more chunky.

In house though I still split it up into more synthetic electro sounding perc to more organic chunky sounding perc. Usually standard house has the latter but with stuff like tech you get amore synthetic but solid sound to it. I like perc being scratchy and chunky though. With trance it just feels a bit too smooth and digital. But like I said its the groove of house that gets me and the bouncyness you get with sidechains.

I can't stand euro style trance anymore where as once I would have listened to it, tastes just change over time and ive gone through quite a journey with styles.

I think because ive come from faster and harder music i cant go any lower than what im at now with 140bpms.
I can mix House and love a dance to Funky House and Freemasons type stuff but like i said after say 40 mins or so i start losing interest Confused

I'd love to be able to mix House more but im happy and comfortable with Trance even the more House sounding type Trance thats around at the mo but that would be for the start/build-up of a mix.

Would be interesting to see the likes of yourself, GJ and Charlie Urban Soundz try a mini Trance mix to see if you could pull it off lol

From what i heard with your mixes you know what your doing anyway and clearly are happy with it, just thought id ask to see if you'd always been into the stuff Spot on

Roll on a night in London to see the masters at work dance
