|
|
I have a small problem sometimes with getting decent sound for drums/bass in dnb/hip hop tunes... Perhaps it's a mix/distortion issue, but I think it can be challenged with compression and eq - are there tips or articles that others find useful???
[Btw, I use reason, I am thinking of upgrading to Cubase, however, I have not yet found a reason to... so maybe it's the sound quality of reason that causes my problems... anyway, theis thread is quitte useful nonetheless...] |

Sound's more like Compression Ratio, the sound quality in reason is great...
You gotta remember that each of you drum tracks needs to be EQ'ed according to the compression ratio and vise versa.
You want to keep each of your sound's from cluttering the other sound's .....
For example you probobly want to turn your threshhold on compresser high on you low end sound's to keep the coming clean through your other drum sound's and your mid range and high end sound's EQ'ed with care to cut as much low end off of them to keep your bass clean.
But mostly use your ears and keep experimenting with your eq's and comp's you'll start to get the hang of it. |

Reason can sound fantastic if you dont *stay* in Reason. Try rewiring your drum and instrument tracks out into 2 seperate tracks in a host. Use the host's FX for the 2 busses & the master.
The EQs in Reason are workable, but the compressors are not so hot, especially on the master.
The synths in reason are hit and miss as well, so rewiring allows you to use alternative sound sources. _________________ -K@LR |
