I use Reason 3.0 and Cubase SX. I have a mini mixer that I use for guitar, bass and vocals.

Just curious of other ways to record live instruments.

Also, any recommendations on reasonably priced condenser mic's for Vocals.

Thanks
Gary

I don't wanna rain on your parade but you get what you pay for with mic's. That said, with all the snobbery that surrounds microhones if your gain structure is good and the instrument is played really well, it's not as important as is made out.

If you're looking at value for money you should perhaps think about buying a cheap drum mic'ing kit as this would give you a variety of options and, (providing your set up allows it) gives you the option of recording the performance with multiple mic's which, on their own, might sound not that great but when added together can often give you some sweet results.

For decent vocals on a *very* tight budget, look at the MXL V63M. They can be had for 99 bucks and are very good buys for the price. The upper end of it's sound isnt exactly smooth though.

For a smooth sound on a budget, take a look at Audio Technica's AT4040. Very natural & smooth top end, and it works on tons of sources. The 4040s and 4050s (multi pattern version) are true workhorse microphones.

Blueberries cost about a grand. Not exactly affordable to the average person.
