|
| okay so say you have two records matched deck A and deck B. you start to bring deck A into the mix. You notice the beats are starting to go out slightly. Any body have any tips on figuring out if the record is starting to go a little to fast or if it is slightly behind. sometimes when this happens i hear the beats going out and i speed the record up when it actually needed slowing down and vise versa. does this just come with practice? |

Practice makes perfect mate
See when your mixing the next track in, well your dummy runs... tap your foot to that beat or move a finger to that beat and you'll get used to the rythm of that next track and it'll get easier cuz you'll know exactly where those incoming beats are lying either to the left or right of the main beats _________________ Back In Business! |

try and keep your ear tuned into the track that you have cued and just bought in so for example, track A is playing and you are cuing up Track B. as you bring in Track B try and tune into Track B more then Track A. hope that makes sence _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. Good tip that cuz there been a few times when everything is going great and then your mind wanders and you lose the beats in seconds _________________ Back In Business! |

| I use Bloom Lboom technic! well, I give higher volume for the incomming track in my headphone, So If they go out, you hear 2 different kick sound. one higher and one lower in vol . when you notice first kick has more power ( B loom) that means your incomming tune has more speed. And if you heard L BOOM that means you need to speed up your incomming tune. Hope this one help. |

| Sometimes listening is too close, I look at the lights on the mixer, sometimes it's easier to see then hear. Nowadays I have Serato, so it all visualizes on screen, no guess work. |

Try using your monitor speakers! that's what they are there for..
Put your headphones on and listen to both tracks while gettiting your ear close to one of your monitor speakers! THis way, you will hear the other track very clearly and be able to manage both tracks in time! Try it, you will find the results amazing! thats a start in getting both tunes locked on! |

a. KNOW YOUR MUSIC and this should be easy peasy.
b. You need a good ear for music/sound and can't be tone deaf _________________ aleksandra - female house dj

This is such a key thing, there's nothing more annoying to me than tracks coming in totaly out of place but it does happen a lot. At one point i thought this must be the new way of mixing cuz i heard it that often but i just stuck to my oldskool roots and kept everything in perfect. Does sound bad though when the next track doesnt come in smoothe and comes in half a bar early or late like a brick _________________ Back In Business! |

i agree with both of those… counting is also a good thing to have. sounds cheesy but if you cant count your measures you'll be lost _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. What of it? Sounds really stupid but if you struggle with the listening to the track in your phones and the other on your monitors then try playing both tracks in your headphones and matching it up so the bass cancel's one and another out so you just hear one big bass kick. The longer you listen when your Cueing up the song you will hear the beats start to go out so adjust your pitch as needed.
Stupid idea but it kinda worked for me when I was starting out and was getting used to sorting out everything that was going on in a track in my head. _________________ There ain't anything better than a proper good old stomp! |
