I was thinking about this today, bit random but i wonder if it happens.....
If you are DJ'n at a club or bar and suddenly the fuse goes in the plug of your mixer or deck, what would you do? lol apart from cry that is....how long do fuses last in DJ equipment? |

lol Suppose all you could do is laugh it off and hope your still being payed for the downtime
Then again its the clubs duty to have this sorted so not really the dj's problem so get a quick run to the bar and get a few free drinks into you before the power is back on _________________ NorthStone |

Yep. It's really not your problem. Get a member of the club staff or promotion crew over to sort it out.
Then, like Tiger said, hop over to the bar and chat with some of the crowd until the problem is fixed.
This sort of stuff would happen constantly back in the illegal rave days. I recall many nights of playing on a Gemeni mixer that was held together with duct tape. |

That's some ghetto shit right there.
but I'd personally get 3 shots of rum (even if I have to pay) or how many I can down before the power is back. |

Oh yes. Decks set up on a door that was laid flat across a few piles of bricks. Complete with belt drive decks and mixer from 1985. |

Just on Smittys subject of something going wrong, what decks will let you down more...record turntables or the CD decks? Never owned CD decks so dont know how fragile they are but for those that use them or have used them are they easier to break or die on you than the quality in record turntables? _________________ NorthStone |

Depends on the quality of the deck itself, I suppose.
I have played on Technics that were 20 years old and were still rock solid.
I have also played on 6 month old Numark decks that were already starting to wobble.
I have never personally had a problem with any of the Pioneer CDJ's, but I have heard from friends that worked in clubs and such that Denon players (especially the rack mounted ones) are notorious for breaking down. _________________ MySpace |
