Really depends. You can make almost any basic bassy sound sound electro-ish with the right effects put on it. If you want to get the exact sound from those tracks, then you would probably need the VST's used to create them. You also have to take into account that they may have used an external VST (keyboard) to make the sound. Its not hard to recreate a specific sound as long as you know the basics of how to change the sounds using the knobs and such.

I havent listened to Born Slippy in years but I just checked it out. The bassline in that can be made using many different VSTs and synth. Its a basic bass. One sec and I will see if I can make the sound using a VST called Trilogy......

Now I know theres better but getting an decent synth out of Trilogy to KIND OF match the one in Born Slippy:

Code:
Synth Bass --> Patches --> Bright --> Cutting Through the Crud

Key note = G2
Octave = -2

There are 2 sounds going on here in an A patch which is linked to a B patch.

In the A patch
AMP ENV Sustain = -7.19.
FILTER ENV Distortion = 3.73

In the B patch
AMP ENV Sustain = -5.25 dB
FILTER ENV Distortion = 10.3 sec
FILTER ENV Sustain -inf
MASTER FILTER = 75 LPF.

Messed around with another setting:

Code:
Synth Bass --> Patches --> Bright --> Itchy Buzz Brain

Key note = G2

Octave = -2

AMP ENV Sustain = -2.82
FILTER ENV Distortion = 10.7
FILTER ENV Sustain = -12.47
MASTER FILTER = 60 LPF

Again I was just trying to figure out the basic bassline sound. The high pitch noise in it could either be a separate synth (which is what it sounds like) or a note in the bassline that is pitched several octaves higher (in simplistic terms). These 2 could easily be used in a breakdown by just increasing the reverb through out the break thus making the bassline get bigger and meaner then go back to normal when the beat drops back in.

If you dont have Trilogy, I am sure you can find it online somewhere but basically, any deep mean sounding bass with some distortion and some tweaks can sound quite similar to that one. Thats the beauty of electro house too. Making basslines SOUND cool. LFO? Sure why not. Side Chain? Hell yes!

Hope this helps you out some. Think

Sorry I am also at work right now and using a laptop with studio headphones to work with so I cant upload the bass sound these produced to show you. But, all the same, if you have Trilogy, you can recreate the sound with the presets I posted up there. Again, hope this helps you out.
