I picked up my new mixer today and i noticed in one of the channels i get this hum and an occasional static when i raise the DB's. has this happened to anyone before?
im going to take it back and get a new one tho. just wanna no what it is exactly

Might be a dodgy connection where the phono cables plug into at the back of the mixer, happens on mine sometimes!
If it's brand new mate take it back and they should replace it for you. 
*note to self......buy a new fecking mixer!*

What about the earth/ground lead you got that plugged in yea? ive forgot to do that loadsssss of times  |

everythings plugged in rite but i think its more what nino said. i'll check it anyway but its probably just a faulty connection. thanks guys
