poiuy there are a LOT of great start up pack deals around for beginners. If i was you i'd go straight to Direct Drives and forget about Belts, not fun when your very good on Belts but then have to re-learn how to mix with Directs.
Just look up any Elctrical store or Music store as most are stocking Dj beginner packs and deals,or even look up Ebay
By the way ive borrowed your 3rd question and made it a topic in the General Music Chat part, hope thats ok with you and that you dont mind
Welcome by the way _________________ Back In Business! |

i'll give you my experience. First of all, play around with software dj programs or demos (all kinds of free stuff), watch some vids, and decide which type of music you want to play. Secondly decide if you want to play vinyl, cds.. I picked CDs becasue you can download tunes from beatport.com or other Mp3 download sites and burn straight away. If you want to go with vinyl you can get records from HMV or any dance music online record shop for about £8 a piece. If you wanna go with digital vinyl then you need to pick a software, i would recommend m-audio's torq selling for around £80 at the moment, it's relatively cheap compared to FS and serato and it works well. THEN, if you wanna go with vinyl, direct drive decks is the way to go because belt drive suck for mixing. If you want decks, either go for 2nd hand technics (watch ellaskins' videos on youtube on how to check 2nd hand turns) or relatively good stuff such as numark t500s zZsounds will sell you 2 stanton str-90 (old version) for a good price a price and those are pretty good. If you wanna go with CDs, it's either dual cd players which i feel are crap, and tabletop. Numark CDjs are pretty good, Pioneer are damn good but expensive, i've got 2 denon dns1000s which i negotiated for £600 a piece. For numark products check out sinamex.com. And then you can buy cds from regular shops or download off the net on www.beatport.com, www.djdownload.com or www.play-digital.com . As a general rule, go for high quality players (cd or decks) because they will last, mixers are cheap and renewable...). And lastly, for a bedroom dj you're lookin at 2 to 3 channel mixers, i would recommend Behringer VMX300 or DJX700 as they are pretty cheap and work well. Otherwise all the usual offerings are available.
Hope that helped... i could go on for hours so drop me a PM or post here for any further info... |

Good advice there. I bought a beginners pack quite a bit ago. Numark Battle Pack. 2 Numark direct drives are provided which are excellent value in my opinion although the mixer wasnt that good . Still, i use the decks to this day, they don't hold the mix perfect like but as close as you can get to perfect.
Here it is: http://www.djstore.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.pl?item=numbattlepack
Could do with upgrading now though lol. Like the other 2 mentioned i would just start off with something cheap then work your way up yea. |
