|
|
I have some questions spinning in my mind, and I had no idea about them... (my genre: Trance and progressive)
1- Are softwares which detect keys are reliable?! I'm asking this question because I see some tunes with different keys (eg 1B to 3A or 3A to 7A) "Some times" mix well togethere and sounds pretty cool and in other hand I see tunes with the same key even with same BPM sounds awful! any answere for this one? anything else I need to know rather than keys to find out tunes which match togethere well?
2- I have my DJM600 effects alone!!! to be honest I don't know when and where is the the time to use them. I just sometimes use filter effect for out going tune... any tips and trick? thanks
3- and for the last question, is there any tips and advices to mix musics with different keys better?
Edit: oh!... and what percentage of pitch will change the key? (like eg 5% change of pitch makes 1A to 2,3,4,...A or B?!)
Thanks for answering my questions and sorry to ask all of them at once! |

i'm not entirely sure what you mean about key.. if you mean the pitch then thats not really a problem. it's just the beats you want to get matched perfectly. and you do that by just adjusting the pitch slider on your turntable to whenever you hear the beats kick together in time. it take's a little work to get use to at first.
umm... with your effects, whenever you feel like using them basically. no one can tell you when to use them because basically thats when they would use them, not when you would feel right to use them. so whenever you feel like dropping a flange or something just go for it!
hope that helps you out _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. What of it? I dance Better then you. Your a punk! You bounce your head up and down, I move my feet around. I feel the rhythem; You feel the scream. The Difference between you and me:

well I didn't mean beatmatching... I can do that perfectly well.... I was seeking to know how can I mix out of key tunes better, and also why sometimes tunes with same key do not work well and sometimes out of key tunes work pretty well? |

hmmm ok. umm, i'm not 100% sure about how you could mix everything in the same key. theres a key-lock function on some turntables and most cd players but to match the key exactly the same every tune i cant honestly say. sorry about that mate. mite be someone here that can help you a little bit better _________________ "Yeh, I'm a club head. I'm new to this so this response might be completely stupid, but I do know music theory, and what kinda keys are you talking about?? 1A???
In music, keys are referred to as A major, or C minor etc. I have no idea what you are talking about when you say 1A, 3B etc. Would anyone care to enlighten me as to what these mean? Is it some sort of simplified code for key sigs?
Technically (in terms of a music theory point of view) you can change key by going up to the dominant (the fifth) or going down to the sub dominant (fourth.) Also, if you are in a major key, you can use the relative minor key to that key, and vice versa if you are in a major key.
Just incase I'm not making sense, if you are in the key of C major for example, you could go to the fifth of C, which is G. (count 7 semi tones on the piano) you could also go to the fourth, which is F (5 semi tones away from the root (C))
If the key is major, take the root note (in this case C, for the key of C major) and count down a minor third (3 semi tones.) You will now be at A minor. Equally if you start in a minor key you can count up a minor third (3 semi tones) and you will be in the relative major key. Eg if you were in D minor, you would move to E sharp major.
That might make no sense or answer the question but I hope it helps |
