I'm not an expert when it comes to setting up a mic for fruity loops but the infomation provided below should shed some light on general set up..

Method 1

Step 1
You will need an XLR to 1/4 inch jack cable for your microphone. Check the mic-in socket on your soundcard. If it is an 1/8 inch socket then you will need a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter.
Or use a MXL DeskTop Recording Mic Kit for Computers which comes with all the neccessary cables and has phantom power. Most PCs have a mic-in as standard but not all Macs, if your Mac has not got a mic-in then you will need something like the iMic.

Step 2
Connect the microphone directly to your soundcard's mic-in socket, via the adapter.
NB This basic method only works if using a MXL DeskTop Recording Mic Kit for Computers which comes with all the neccessary cables and has phantom power or a dynamic mic as condenser mics need phantom power that is not supplied in this configuration.

Method 2

Step 1
Connect the XLR microphone cable to the mic-in socket on the pre-amp.

Step 2
Connect your preamp to your soundcard's line-in. If your soundcard has a 1/8 inch jack input then you will need to purchase a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter or a Computer Guitar Cable. Most desktop PCs have a line-in as standard but not all laptops or Macs, if your laptop or Mac has not got a line-in then you will need something like the iMic.

Method 3

Step 1
Most modern computers come with USB ports, but before purchasing an external interface, it is worth checking that you actually have the correct USB or FireWire connectors on your computer.

Step 2
Plug your microphone's XLR cable directly into the mic in socket on your interface.

Step 3
Connect the interface directly to the USB or FireWire connectors on your computer. The interface is providing the phantom power needed by the condenser mic.

umm, no need to read what he said above. You can't record directly in to FL, so you have to go through a third party tool, like for your instance: Cool Edit.
