[font=Tahoma][color=green]Hey, Ive just picked up a DJ set(CD Players) Those new stantons C.313. I have not muche xperience with them and as i was looking on the net to see guides to being a DJ. I saw the beatmixing, which i can do. But what troubles me is that 4/4 guideline i count things in 8's. Will i run into any problem with that or is it the same thing and also dropping in a track just to be sure would be the break down.(Vocals, or synth) And then i start the track up with bass in the back ground. Do i bring it in gradually or just BAM. lol

My thing is trance and i would like to get good because i can get some gigs lined up for me becuase my brother is in partownership of a mini club so..
any advice will be great,

Hi, first of all this video is good if you need any help with cd deck mixing:

Are you just using cd decks or do you have any turntables?

As long as your cue'n in right its just practice from then on determining whether you need to speed up or slow down the next record. You can cue in on 4,8,12,16 etc. as long as it's in 4's for a 4/4 structured tune e.g. 1,2,3,4, cue in. I count in 4's personally but you can do it how you like.

I tend to have a bassline kicking in the background when mixing if im playing trance or electro but depends what tune it is really. Ask your mates for opinions of mixes you do to see if they think it sounds good, if not, try something else and so on....Trance is good to mix in my opinion, try and fade the next tune in slowly at a low volume and increase the volume gradually after each 2 bars of the outro for example. But try different ways just mess about to see what sounds best

Hope thats helped a little.....

One thing i learnt back at day 1,never bring in Bricks (just BAM) BUT just dropping the next track head first is the norm now.
Personaly i'll never bring in a brick, slowly bit by bit i'll mix the next track in.
